Many of us do not realize how important a moisturizer is in our skin care routine. If there is ever a product that you need to use every day, it is a moisturizer. Not quite sure what a moisturizer does? We've explained everything here for you.
WHAT IS A MOISTURIZER?
Moisturising creams consist of emollients such as vegetable oils, vaseline and cocoa butter, which protect and soften the skin.
The basic formula of a moisturizer includes oil and water. Even if you tend to have oily skin, your skin can become dehydrated and therefore needs water.
WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT TO USE A MOISTURIZER NOW?
We all produce sebum from our skin, which acts as our own natural moisturizer. But we also need extra moisture to replace the water that we lose naturally during the day. The skin can dry out if we do not take in enough water.
Softeners in moisturizers act as a barrier on the skin and help prevent too much water from being lost through the skin's surface. The basic function of a moisturizer is preventing the skin from drying out.
HOW & WHEN TO APPLY MOISTURIZER?
Get into the habit of applying a moisturizer every morning and evening. Apply it after cleaning your skin, especially after washing and patting your face dry for a few minutes.
Take your time! Make sure that you spread and rub the moisturizer all over your face. Do not forget the neck area and the area under the chin! For the eye area you should use separate eye cream, as the skin is very sensitive there. (e.g.: Baxter Of California Under Eye Cream)
You should also not apply too much cream, spread a thin layer on your face.
Apply the moisturizer in the evening just before going to bed. This way your skin can recover and regenerate while you sleep. In addition, we all tend to sweat during the night, so we can lose a lot of moisture from our body during this time.
